The Vilas County Highway Department is given the responsibility to maintain 204 road miles of the county trunk highway system. Along with the maintenance and construction on the county system the department also contracts with Wisconsin Department of Transportation to provide services for the maintenance of 295 lane miles on the state highway system.  This department is also available to assist townships with any maintenance needs they may require.
