Antique Critique

July 21, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

An “Antique Critique” fundraiser sponsored by the Phelps Historical Museum is planned for Sunday, July 21 at the Phelps School commons area from 1 to 5 pm.

Professional appraiser of antiques and fine art, Mark Moran, who has done appraisals on PBS’s Antiques Roadshow, will be on hand to give those interested antiquers a value of vintage items.

Cost for appraisals is $20 for the first item and $10 for each additional item.  Cost for attendance to view appraisals is $10.  A light lunch and refreshments will be served throughout the day and is included in the ticket price.

Baskets valued at $100 – $250 each will be raffled by museum volunteers towards the end of the show approximately 4 pm.

If you’d like your  items appraised, please stop in at the Phelps Museum to sign up for a time slot or go to the phelpsmuseum.com web site, complete the form, and mail it in with your check.  A good description of the items will help with the process allowing more items to be appraised.  A photo of the items will also help, but not required.  Walk-ins will be fit into the schedule as best as possible.

All weapons, including swords and knives (though folding knives with advertising are accepted); traps (like leg-hold); Nazi memorabilia; coins and paper money; fine jewelry, including precious gems; Beanie Babies are excluded from appraisal.

Items can be any size, as long as you can bring it into the school the day of the event.

As an added feature of this event, Mark is willing to come to your home to appraise large items.  The cost is $75 per hour, and appointments need to be made outside the 1pm – 5pm time of the show.  Call 715-281-5060 or [email protected] to arrange a home visit.
