The Town is acquiring the old hospital property for redevelopment due to blight.

We have made an offer and are attempting to negotiate with Tom Cat Holdings. The Town is required to pay just compensation for the property based on the fair market value of the property, and has obtained an appraisal report to help them determine that amount.

If negotiations are unsuccessful, the Town will follow the laws to acquire the property by eminent domain. The Town has retained experienced counsel to advise in that process.

The ultimate sale or acquisition of the property will require elector approval, and a Town meeting will be scheduled at the appropriate time.

The Town hopes to have title to the property by late 2023.
